Rolehelp 2.0 (Help Authoring Tool)

  Rolehelp is a Help Authoring Tool to create 7 types of help and documents (manuals) as WinHelp (.hlp), Compiled HTML (.chm), Browser Help (.htm), MS Word Rich Text (.rtf), MS Word (.doc), Adobe PDF (.pdf), NotePad Text (.txt) files all from one single source automatically. No extra tools are required to create help and documents, all is in one application.

  Table of Contents

With the table of contents form where you may add new books or topics, also you may move the contents items left, or right, up and down, and double click to open the editor.

   
       
  Topic Editor

Use the editor like any word processor to write the help topics, you may add images and nested tables, when you press the mouse right button a popup menu will be opened to help you cut/copy/paste, set objects (images, tables) properties, set hypertext links, set/remove topic links, and add selected words automatically to the keyword list, press F7 to activate spell check by Addictive Sofwtare.

   
       
  Setting Project Properties

With the project properties (shortcut F11) you may set the Title, Copyright string, and Author name, also you can change the help language and charset to your language, with WinHelp page you can change the default window colors (header, topic), with the Compiled HTML page you can set the layout parameters like use the navigation arrows, and link to table of contents on each page, also an editor for extra project parameters is included.

   
       
  Setting JavaScript parameters

With the Browser HTML page you can set the html properties, like using the navigation arrows, and setting all the JavaScript (if used) color parameters, and show/hide the table of contents sequential level numbers, and show/hide the link to contents on each page.

   
       
  Building Projects

By pressing F9, or pressing the toolbar Build button the build form will be opened automatically to select the target help/document file type. You may Enable/Disable the Auto help display after build. All build parameters will be as set by the properties form.

   
       
  Displaying documents with Adobe PDF

If you select the Adobe PDF document for build the Outlines will be created automatically for the Table of Contents and the Topic Title will be printed on top of each page with a page no as the header, and the footer will have the copyright text. The Adobe Acrobat reader will be opened to view the PDF document as shown in the picture (if auto display is enabled on the build form).

   
       
  Importing Existing Help Files

By pressing the import help button on the toolbar the import help form will be opened to select the import type as source .hhc or compiled html .chm help file, you may type the full path to the help file name, or use the browse button to select the help file, finally press OK to start convert.

   
       
  Editing the imported help file

After the import help is finished, a new table of contents will be created automatically, you may move the items left, and right, up and down to the change it for your new design, and double click on any topic to open the editor and start editing it.
